HYPER RACING HP22 Helmet Air Ventilation System

The HYPER RACING HP22 helmet top air ventilation system is almost similar to EVO RS 959 (helmet review).  There are two frontal air intakes with open/close slider switch and a central mounted air diffuser on top of the helmet.

The frontal air intakes divert the air flow from the rider's head to the back of the helmet. The positive air flow forces air into the top of the helmet and negative air pressure is used to expel the air out to the back.  

The central mounted diffuser has an open / close rocker switch on top of the helmet.  You can control the air flow pressures that would otherwise disrupt the air flowing simply by pushing the rocker on/off switch.

The dual air ventilation system is already the de facto standard for an half face / open face motorcycle helmet. It was considered revolutionary in the early times, but now you can see it everywhere. For those who like simple and classic styling motorcycle helmets, you have the option of choosing other retro classic designs such as NOVA RETRO CLASSIC or MIB M17 Retro Helmet.

HYPER RACING HP22 Motorcycle Helmet Visor

HYPER RACING HP22 motorcycle helmet has a wide visor view. The advantage of wearing a half-face helmet is the unlimited forward visibility provided by the design. The wide visor opening looks like the "fish bowl" which expand the motorcycle rider's peripheral vision when looking straight ahead. HYPER RACING HP22 motorcycle helmet visor has good optical properties and better peripheral vision means more safety for the rider.

HYPER RACING HP22 Helmet Visor Rotation Mechanism

HYPER RACING HP22 motorcycle helmet incorporates visor shield mechanism without screws. This result in doing away with the old and clumsy side pods with screws. Today almost all motorcycle helmets are fitted with visor rotation mechanism except for the good old NOVA helmets (side pods held together by cheap plastic screws) which are still stuck in the dinosaur era. If your motorcycle helmet has side pods with screws, you should considered upgrading to a new helmet because you do not know what you are missing out.

There are two side pod (left and right) that are attached to the visor rotation mechanism so when you flip up your visor, the side pod also goes up. This is only to enhance the aesthetic appearance and make it more stylish and pleasing to your eyes. However please take note that when changing visor, it will be more tricky than those without side pods attached.

When you raise or lower the HYPER RACING HP22 helmet face shield, it stays where you want it to be. The channel holders do a good job at keeping the face shield firm and secured. This cannot be said of NOVA helmets where the visor slides up and down feebly.

HYPER RACING HP22 Motorcycle Helmet Shell Construction

HYPER RACING HP22 helmet shell-construction materials is normal ABS which make it slightly heavier than other half face motorcycle helmets which are made of fiberglass material. However you can enjoy a peace of mind knowing that HYPER RACING HP22 helmet has passed stringent Singapore Safety Standards SS 9: 1992 and attained the "PSB TEST" label. Please take note that the "PSB TEST" approved safety label has changed to a new look (see photo)

HYPER RACING HP22 Motorcycle Helmet Lining

HYPER RACING HP22 helmet inner lining is of fairly basic quality. The forehead liner has been wrapped in plush velvet which is smooth and soft to touch. The inner cheek pads and inner lining are removable and washable. This allow you to have hygiene maintenance with periodic washing.
